Steamed pork and prawn dumplings - Shumai Recipe
Some dumplings are deep fried and thus quite oily. These dumplings are steamed...a much healthier (and tastier) alternative. Oh, and don't forget to eat the steamed lettuce with the dumplings. Steamed lettuce tastes delicious.
*300g minced pork
*100g prawns - roughly chopped
*2 spring onions - finely chopped
*1 egg
*1 tbs corn flour
*30 sheets Won ton skins - available at any Asian grocery shop (look in the fridge)
*2 tbs SAORI Citrus Soya Dressing or Sesame and Soya Dressing
*cos lettuce leaves (enough to cover steamer)
1: mix pork mince, prawns, spring onions, egg and corn flour into a mixing bowl and knead/mix until smooth.
2: flavour with SAORI Citrus Soya Dressing or Sesame and Soya Dressing
3: put 1 tbs mixture on top of Won ton skin and wrap from bottom (see picture)
4: put cos lettuce leaves on steamer and place Shumai on top - steam for approx 15-20 min
5: serve on steamed lettuce leaves (they won't stick to the plate this way)
6: dip Shumai into SAORI Citrus Soya Dressing or Sesame and Soya Dressing
7: Enjoy your home cooked Japanese meal!!
